CMS Corporation 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 Zero Injury Award Winner.

Receiving plaque – Mercedes Enrique, President

CMS has a strong corporate commitment to health and safety, as evidenced by our Experience Modification Rate (EMR) or 0.76 and our zero OSHA recordable incidents. CMS holds a perfect safety record, having had no OSHA recordable injuries since our inception. CMS attributes this record to the outstanding organization and attention to fine detail entrained in our Project Managers, Superintendents and Field Crew. Due to the nature of the services performed by CMS, health and safety is a principal concern for each and every project. Our goal on each project is to establish personnel protection standards and mandatory safety practices and procedures. To accomplish this goal, CMS assigns responsibilities, establishes standard operating procedures, and provides for contingencies that may arise while work is being performed.

The objective of CMS’ Health & Safety Program is to have zero disabling injuries and illnesses; not just equaling, but surpassing the average safety records of operations similar to ours nationwide. The program includes:
  • Providing mechanical and physical safeguards to the extent possible.
  • Conducting on-going health and safety and environmental inspections to find and eliminate unsafe working conditions/practices; to control hazards to employees’ health; to fully comply with job safety, health, or environmental standards; and to seek out and correct any condition that could feasibly harm our employees or the environment.
  • Training all of our employee’s properly on health and safety practices and procedures.
  • Developing and enforcing health and safety rules. Requiring that associates adhere to these rules at the time of hire and as a condition of continuing employment.
  • Investigating every accident promptly and thoroughly to ascertain the cause and take corrective action if necessary.
  • Supporting and encouraging associate participation in the day-to-day operation of the plan.
  • Recognizing that the responsibility for leadership in the health and safety program, and for its effectiveness and improvement, is the responsibility of every CMS employee.
  • Obtaining employee participation in the health and safety process.

CMS personnel display wholehearted, genuine cooperation with all aspects of this program including compliance with all rules and regulations and continuously utilize good health, safety, and environmental practices while performing their duties.
